[x] Beyond Platforms: New Bioanalytical Challenges and Opportunities
This 10-minute presentation offers a fresh perspective on bioanalytical science from a pharmacy student at Haramaya University, Ethiopia. It will highlight the infrastructure challenges in resource-limited settings: equipment limitations, reagent costs, power instability, and limited specialized training—barriers rarely discussed at international forums.
The talk then explores how emerging technologies specifically AI-driven assay design and cloud-based bioanalytical platforms—could address these challenges. AI can optimize assay conditions virtually before wet-lab work begins, conserving precious reagents. The presentation will discuss what adaptation and validation would make these tools functional in low-resource environments.
It concludes with a call to action: establishing global partnerships ensuring next-generation bioanalytical platforms are designed with accessibility as a core feature. This student perspective aims to bridge cutting-edge science with communities that need it most, expanding our definition of innovation to include global accessibility.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe three challenges to implementing AI-driven bioanalytical platforms in resource-limited settings and propose one adaptation strategy.
