Kohsaku Kawakami, PhD (he/him/his)

Dr. Kohsaku Kawakami is currently working for National Institute for Materials Science as a group leader, and also as a professor for University of Tsukuba. Before joining the current institute in 2006, he has 13 years' experience in pharmaceutical companies including Merck and Shionogi, where he was responsible for physicochemical characterization and formulation studies for new chemical entities and their global development. He is serving for more than ten scientific societies and has chaired many symposiums. He has published about 220 papers and book chapters, and has given more than 200 invited lectures (as of May 2026). His Ph.D. was conferred from Kyoto University.
